In April of 1924, plans were made to begin the Lodge after clearing the land. A building permit was not required in those days, so the excavation begin. Materials were brought by horse cart and stored in a shelter for protection. The shelter also provided a sleeping quarters for the working members staying overnight.
In twelve months, the Lodge was under roof and had a dark brown creosote finish with white rails. The interior contained a dining hall with dark varnished center beams. A fireplace of native stone set on a floor heart with a massive stone mantel provided the heat source for the building. Window screens were added to the porches in 1934.
