13. The Water Reservoir and Water Tower

The Water Reservoir was built in the late 1920’s. A St. Louis City Fire Department steam engine was purchased to pump the water.  Sweet well water was run through 1,600 feet of pipe to the main Lodge.

If you look southeast from the water reservoir over the new ball field, you may see the water tower, which was one of the first stops on many Children’s Camping hikes, pausing for a group photo when the Campers made it to Waters Rd and then the Campers trying to sneak throwing rocks at the tower to hear the TWAAANNG sounds as it ricochets before the counselors caught them.
