In 1927 the first discussions were held to consider the building of a swimming pool. The pool would measure 105 feet by 45 feet and took 3 days to fill with spring “belcher” water from a well dug closeby the pool. The original pool had a concrete island with umbrella in the center of it. It was later removed as a safety precaution for swimmers. A gift of 150 slate, pool table slabs were used to for the smooth floor of the pool. A Bathhouse was built at the deep end of the pool.
